I follow many rescues and have always been a sucker for a sob story, so much so I’m surprised I don’t have a house full of rescue dogs!
I began taking real interest in the PDRC when I followed Romy and Saxon, particularly. I could see from their stories how much they loved and cared for the dogs that arrived in their care, they simply gave them everything in life that was needed.
Along came George…..here we have another heartbreaking story and after loosing our Chocolate Lab in July 2024 I decided that I couldn’t face life without a dog even though I still had an old lab who was living alone now.
I applied for George, home checked and the next thing I knew he was on a BA flight coming to Heathrow, tears and more tears and the whirlwind arrived. I was kept fully informed of the complete process from day one no matter what time of day or night I messaged.
Arrival wasn’t easy after a long flight we got an extremely anxious and scared boy, the volunteers were immediately on hand with words of reassurance and support like a well oiled machine! They have been amazing.
We have the most gorgeous little boy and we have had continual support each day with his progress whilst he settles in. We’ve had a few tough days and a lot of tears but Ronnie has reassured me with techniques and ideas and always giving sound advice!
I can’t thank everyone involved enough for all their hard work even when the dog gets home. This is one charity that keeps giving with a huge heart. Thank you PDRC for the support you offer and the work you do, I certainly haven’t felt alone.
Tia was shared to me by one of your Volunteers, who knew I had a Tia shaped space on my sofa!
I understand that she was nicknamed Tia Tornado by the Volunteers who never, ever gave up on her, whilst she waited so long for us to find her!
The process to adopt Tia was thorough and professional. I felt that every step was taken to make sure we were right for Tia, and she was right for us.
We were kept updated throughout Tia’s adoption process, with any questions being answered quickly and honestly. Tia spent time in Foster, and her Foster Family would share updates, pictures and tips with me, whilst we were waiting for her flight – this was so helpful!
We would recommend PDRC to anyone who is looking to rescue a dog – we are so happy that we heard about you, and that we now have Tia!
Thank you so much to all the Volunteers who never gave up on Tia!
I was fortunate to meet Zygi (Charlie) before adopting him and knew right away that we had to bring him home.
The entire adoption process with PDRC was fantastic—clear communication, an honest review of him, and constant contact with his amazing foster in Cyprus.
Great care was taken of him, especially following his transfusion, ensuring he was healthy and ready for his new home.
Since arriving, he has settled in beautifully, getting on amazingly with his brother Keo and becoming an irreplaceable part of our family.
Zygi is our special boy, and we’re so grateful to PDRC for bringing him into our lives!
We adopted Sooty November 2023 when he was 6 months old.
I had followed Pound Dog Rescue Cyprus on social media and was very impressed with the professional manner in which these volunteers cared for the dogs.
After a year, I was able to adopt Sooty and cannot praise them highly enough.
The adoption process was rightly thorough including references and home check.
The communication throughout was first class, including with the foster family.
Sooty is thriving in his new environment and I would have no hesitation in recommending this organisation to anyone looking to adopt a rescue dog.
We adopted Rosie from Pound Rescue in Cyprus in May 2022. This was the first time we adopted a dog from overseas. They were very thorough doing home checks and on our suitability as adopters
The day the dogs were flown to the UK we had a flight chat which was very reassuring on our furbabies journey
i would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful rescue
I've rescued two beautiful dogs from you guys.
The whole process is so straightforward, you are very informative and helpful throughout the whole adoption process.
You explain everything that is being done or that needs to be done.
There are no hidden costs, you constantly reassure and update as and when you get new news about the adoption and you make the whole adoption such a smooth process.
It's been an absolute pleasure to Adopt our Sandy and Joey from you guys.
Even once the adoption is finalised and they are finally home you guys are still on the end of a message if there are any concerns or questions and are so quick to help.
I couldn't recommend PDRC enough. Thankyou for being such a wonderful rescue ♡
I adopted Dougie in December 2020 from Pound Dog Rescue Cyprus .
As we were still living with COVID at the time, flights were scarce & it took a few months between officially being accepted as Dougies new family and getting him home to the UK.
The volunteers at PDRC were fantastic, they kept me updated with pictures & videos of my boy throughout & were always prompt & friendly answering any questions I had.
Very professional & thorough with home & background checks & I will be forever grateful that they chose us as we love him dearly.
On flights day we were added to a group which kept us updated every stage of the journey.
Honestly can't recommend this rescue highly enough, they consistently go above & beyond to care for and rehome the dogs that are lucky enough to find themselves at PDRC.
Dougie would also like to thank you, he is spoilt rotten & very much loved.
A wee pic of him in his hand knitted jumper that Granny made for him
Gosh, where do we start!
Fostered Deacon and Dorian in 2015, both found homes.
Fostered Fred, found a home.
Adopted blind Marty, sadly since passed.
Adopted scruffy, still keeps us on our toes!
Fostered Oscar, failed miserably and now he is so happy with us.
Fostered Nero when he was poorly.
Our experience with Pound Dog Rescue Cyprus has been amazing.
Thank you for all our babies.
My daughter in law was a volunteer at PDRC and she introduced us to your Facebook page by sending us photos of all your lovely rescue dogs.
We fell in love with Esther when she arrived and we followed her progress (she was very poorly).
As soon as she was available to adopt, we applied. As it was during Covid, we weren't able to have a face 2 face visit, so Jo called and I took her around the house on a video call.
Once we were informed we were to be Esther's new hoomans, we were kept up to date with photos/videos and information on her adoption process and flight arrangements and everything we needed to do.
This took a while as the flights were not as available as usual but we were kept informed of every step.
I only have very positive words for PDRC, they ensure the dogs are ready before adopting them out and they love them unconditionally until the day they leave. You just don't get that level of love and care with many other rescue centres.
We were also supported with additional support when Esther arrived and our own vets questioned us and why we adopted from abroad. Without their knowledge here, I would never have been able to argue our case to them (turns out they just didn't like 'foreign dogs' coming to the UK so we quickly got new vets who adore her)
I wouldn't think about getting another dog from anywhere but PDRC and cannot thank you enough for our Esther.
I heard about PDRC, a couple of years ago, from two of their Volunteers, as we basked in the glorious Cyprus sun, on one of my holidays on the Island.
I was so inspired by the passion they spoke with, and how they described the amazing care the Volunteers give to each of the Dogs. I was hooked!
And now I have two PDRC Dogs, Anna & Scoobs.
Throughout the process of bringing both Anna & Scoobs home, the Volunteers kept in regular contact and helped me with any questions I had. Nothing was too much trouble for them!
Once Anna came home, I started sponsoring the Pound. When Scoobs came home, I started volunteering with them, from the UK, because I didn’t want my PDRC journey to end! I needed to be part of the most amazing group of people, who make such a difference to Cyprus Dogs.
I am so proud to be able to play a small part in finding our Dogs their Forever Homes!
